Sixers Call Up Drew Gordon, Waive Malcolm Thomas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sixers announced their first roster shake up of the regular season on Monday. The team announced that they were calling up forward Drew Gordon from the Delaware 87ers, the team's NBA D-League affiliate.

Gordon played in six preseason games for the Sixers, but failed to make the team's 15 man roster for opening night.

In the preseason, Gordon averaged 7.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 15.9 minutes per contest. He shot 64.5% from the floor.

Gordon is the older brother of Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic who was the 4th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft.

In a related move, the Sixers announced that they were waiving forward Malcolm Thomas. In five games this year for the Sixers, Thomas averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per night.

Thomas is reportedly contemplating surgery on his left knee.

The Sixers next game is set for November 13th when they travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks.
