Sixers Begin Preseason Action Tonight Against Celtics

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- For Sixers fans, year two of a new era begins tonight against the Boston Celtics. The Sixers open up preseason action against the Celtics in Boston at 7:30 p.m. The game will serve as the first evidence of growth for this rebuilding franchise.

There are some clear things that everyone will want to see the first time the team takes the floor. For instance, everyone has wondered exactly how the Sixers will configure the starting five. Do you play Nerlens Noel alongside Henry Sims? Who do you play at the shooting guard spot? Will rookie K.J. McDaniels start?

All of those things will be answered when the Sixers travel to Boston without the services of last year's Rookie of the Year, Michael Carter-Williams.

His absence will open the door for third year guard Tony Wroten to handle the ball handling responsibilities.

Despite all that we will see, the story of the night, and perhaps the entire season, is still who we won't see. Joel Embiid will start his NBA career on the sidelines and will more than likely spend a year learning and observing.

Another side note to opening the preseason against Boston, we get to go visit former Sixer Evan Turner who now plays for the Celtics and who in the blink of an eye is now on his third NBA team.
