Bordentown Police Chief Shot In Leg Inside Municipal Building

By Todd Quinones

BORDENTOWN Twp., N.J., (CBS) – An investigation is underway to determine exactly how the police chief in Bordentown Township was accidentally shot with his own gun.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at the Bordentown Township Municipal Building.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's office indicates a juvenile inside the municipal building appears to be responsible for the police chief being shot in the leg.

Bordentown Township Police Chief Frank Nucera was accidentally shot once in the leg Tuesday with his own gun.

The chief was in the tax assessor's office inside the municipal building when we are told a juvenile who was here with a parent conducting business at the tax office somehow played a role in the accidental discharge.

Chief Nucera was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton with a non-life threatening injury.

Nucera also serves as the township administrator.

The juvenile involved was not hurt.

The exact details of what happened and an explanation about how the shooting occurred have not been released as the incident is under investigation.
