2 Philadelphia men killed in Cobbs Creek shooting identified by police, 3 others hospitalized

2 killed, 3 injured in Cobbs Creek shooting

Police have identified two men killed in a drive-by quintuple shooting in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philadelphia on Monday night.

The shooting happened at the intersection of 60th and Delancey streets at around 8:40 p.m.

A police source tells CBS News Philadelphia surveillance video shows a masked gunman getting out of a white vehicle, standing in a shooter stance and opening fire. The vehicle then leaves the scene.

Sources believe someone in the crowd was targeted.

The shots hit 24-year-old Paul Cobb and 24-year-old Naasir Boyd, both of Philadelphia. They were both taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to the chest.

Cobb and Boyd were lifelong friends, according to family.

"Whoever did this doesn't realize not only did they take his life, they took all of our lives as well, because my life will never ever be the same," Tiffany Thurston, Paul Cobb's mother, said.

Three other people hit by gunfire were taken to nearby hospitals. One man, a 36-year-old, is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

"If anyone knows anything, please do us a favor and give up the information because we lost someone close to us and we are never going to get that back ever," Michelle Hawkins, Cobb's cousin, said.

Two other people, a 54-year-old and a 35-year-old, were shot in the leg and are in stable condition. There was no further information on their identities.

It's unclear what led to the shooting. Police closed off a section of 60th Street while they investigated Monday night.

Evidence markers seen on the ground indicate that multiple rounds were fired.

There are several businesses in the area and police are looking for surveillance video and witnesses with more information on the white vehicle and the unidentified gunman involved in this shooting.
