Shooting Inside Of Northeast Philadelphia Hotel Leaves Victim In Critical Condition, Police Say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man is fighting for his life after he was shot inside of a hotel in Northeast Philadelphia. The shooting happened on the sixth floor of the Four Points by Sheraton hotel on the 9400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, shortly after 10:30 p.m Monday.

Police say a 44-year-old man was shot in the stomach, outside of the room where he was staying with his girlfriend.

Officials say the girlfriend had several large tote bags that smelled like marijuana.

"Our officers are going to have those bags investigated and searched but at this time we are not certain of the contents," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "That girlfriend is talking to police. She has been transported to Northeast detectives where she is being interviewed."

The victim is in critical condition.

Police are hoping surveillance cameras in the hotel can help them piece together what led to the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
