SEPTA Looking For Women To Join Workforce

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - SEPTA is staging a gender-specific career fair this weekend.

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the transit agency will stage the "Women Building SEPTA" career fair at its Center City headquarters.

Dan Amaspacher, SEPTA's director of recruitment, says they're looking for female applicants who have technical and trade experience or an interest in learning what it takes to get it:

"We want to be able to have some conversations with people who have experience, who are currently working in the construction trades or mechanical positions. But also, we want to be able to meet women who may be interested in pursuing what has long been a non-traditional role."

He says among the positions they're looking to fill are mechanics, electricians and welders.

"In the Delaware Valley there are women who are employed in construction jobs, in trade jobs, mechanical repair jobs and we want to be able to tap into that market," adds Amaspacher.

If interested, SEPTA asks you to register online by the end of Friday.
