SEPTA Strike Causes Traffic Nightmare For Commuters
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Getting to work and school was complicated for many this morning after SEPTA workers went on strike.
Traffic was a nightmare around the city with the morning commute lasting until almost noon.
Motorists tell Eyewitness News that a normal 20 minute ride took an hour an a half.
"I'm about an hour behind schedule," one driver said.
Another man said, "It's crazy, man. I got to take my mom and sister to work, it's really inconvenient. I have to go to school."
The SEPTA strike shut down transit buses, the subway and trolleys, forcing more people to drive to get wherever they are going.
Uber, Lyft and Zipcar have all announced special services and discounts because of the strike.
Negotiations resumed Tuesday afternoon between SEPTA and the Transit Workers' Union.
