SEPTA Says Rail Riders Will See Some Big Changes Beginning Sunday

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA says it's making major changes along some Regional Rail lines, including direct service to the airport on two of those lines.

Some big changes are coming to SEPTA's Regional Rail lines beginning Sunday.

"Departure time changes both later and earlier on select weekday and weekend trips and station service changes will go into effect on a majority of our 13 rail lines," said SEPTA's Assistant General Manger and Chief Operations Officer Ronald G. Hopkins.

Among the biggest changes: Direct, weekday service to the airport on both the Warminster and West Trenton lines will end. Riders will have to get off at 30th Street Station or Suburban Station and catch another train to the airport.

Hopkins says the changes are being made because SEPTA was having reliability issues, particularly on the Warminster and West Trenton lines, as well as on-time performance problems.

As a result, he says rail rider complaints spiked.
