SEPTA Marks Special Anniversary
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — SEPTA is celebrating 125 years of electric street car service in Philadelphia and a contest is being held to get the public in on the fun, too.
On Dec. 15, 1892, the first electric trolley went into service on the now defunct Catharine-Bainbridge Line.

To mark the 125th anniversary, SEPTA wrapped one of its existing trolleys to resemble a 1892 street car. Carolers dressed in Victorian-style clothing and entertained the crowd at the unveiling of the trolley.
It will be put into service on Routes 11, 13, 34 and 36 for the next year.
SEPTA is holing a contest they want to hear your stories about what makes trolleys so special.

"To tell their story of how the trolleys impact them, how they feel about them, and from there will be a selection made -- 15 folks that will win various prizes," said Scott Sauer, assistant general manager of operations.
Five TransPasses are among prizes.
