SEPTA Identifies Defect In Regional Rail Cars

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA has identified a "significant structural defect" with its Silverliner V Regional Rail Cars.

All Silverliner V cars, which make up approximately one-third of the Regional Rail fleet, are out-of-service for inspection.

Loss of vehicles will likely persist until the repairs are completed.

Weekend and holiday schedules can be accommodated with the remainder of the fleet, so travel during July 4th will be unaffected.

Contingency service plans for weekday travel are being developed.
