Senate Committee To Issue Kane Recommendations Today

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- A state Senate committee is expected to issue recommendations today that could set the stage for a Senate vote on whether to remove embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane. A day earlier, a state House committee took action that could lead to Kane's impeachment.
The report of the state Senate committee studying whether Kathleen Kane can function as attorney general with a suspended law license could set the stage for a Senate vote to remove her in days or weeks. House impeachment proceedings would likely take months. Garth Everett is a House Republican from Lycoming County.

"I believe there is question as to whether the Senate is currently following the correct process. I believe Governor Rendell voiced that at the Senate's hearing. I believe – myself personally, I wouldn't be doing this if I did not believe that impeachment was the proper process for us to be following," said Everett.

The House Judiciary Committee Tuesday approved a resolution sponsored by Everett that would authorize an investigation of Kane that could lead to impeachment. That resolution now goes to the full House for a vote.
