Section Of Pa. Turnpike To Close Late Saturday For 6 Hours

HIGHSPIRE, Pa. (AP) — A 65-mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is going to be closed in both directions for six hours, starting at 11 p.m. Saturday.

The turnpike said Thursday the closure between the Breezewood and Carlisle exits will last until 5 a.m. Sunday.

That will allow contractors to demolish the Meadowbrook Road bridge at mile post 220 in Cumberland County.

The turnpike will distribute cards with alternate routes as motorists get off the toll road at both ends.

Officials say the detours will add about an hour of travel time for motorists.
