PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Monday was the seventh day on the Philadelphia School District calendar wiped-out by snow this winter. Does that mean the school year will be extended into July? Not necessarily.

The school calendar had one extra day built in, so the district has six snow days to make up. Three have already been taken care of -- the April 14th spring break week has been shortened from five days to two (See Previous Story).

So what are the options now? District spokesman Fernando Gallard says the district is talking with the state department of education about waiving the 180-day requirement.

"You can either count 180 days of school, or you can also look at the hours. And the requirement under the Commonwealth is 990 hours for middle and high school, and 900 hours for elementary," Gallard said.

Right now the district's last scheduled day of school this year is June 19th.
