The Phillies announced they have declined the 2017 club option for the 36-year-old first baseman on Thursday. The Phillies will pay Howard a $10 million buyout instead of exercising his $23 million club option.

Before the team's final game of the season, the Phillies sent Howard off with a beautiful tribute ceremony.

Howard spent the past 13 years in Philadelphia winning the NL MVP in 2006 and the World Series in 2008. The three-time all-star will go down as one of the move beloved Phillies players ever.
