Rutgers-Camden Students Depart For Presidential Commencement

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Rutgers-Camden students got up early Sunday morning to head to main campus in New Brunswick to hear a very special commencement address.

The guest speaker is none other than President Obama.

It marks his 23rd commencement address as president, but the first time ever that Rutgers University has had such an honor in its 250 year history.

"We knew we had to do something special for commencement, so it's amazing that he agreed to do it," said Mike Sepanic, spokesman for Rutgers-Camden.

Sepanic says 350 Rutgers-Camden students from the class of 2016 get the honor to see the president.

"I'm really excited, it's like the first day of school," said Frantz Stevens, who claims he didn't sleep at all the night before.

Rutgers-Camden students graduate Wednesday and Thursday of this week, but it doesn't take away the excitement of hearing President Obama's historic speech.

Students took a special train just for them, painted in Rutgers red, a fitting ride for a week of activities they'll never forget.
