Runner Profile: Cindy Chimino

Cindy Chimino
Coatesville, PA

Favorite kicks: Brooks

Pre-race ritual: Same breakfast the morning of my race, which consists of a bagel with peanut butter and a banana along with a Spark energy drink. I also put Icy Hot on my knees and calves. I know it's weird, but it works.

Pre-race snack: Bagel with peanut butter

Tips for new runners: Start out easy so you don't get discouraged. There is definitely a science to running and it's not just a matter of lacing up your shoes and heading out the door. Nutrition, proper fueling, stretching and consistency are key, but so are rest days. If you do it right, you can run for a long time just like me.

Why she runs: I've been running since I was 9 and ran for Catholic Youth Organization and my dear alma mater Cardinal Dougherty High School. My best performance at the Broad Street Run was when I was the 8th female finisher overall and ran it in 1:00.0. Now I run for the pure enjoyment of it all and stick mostly to anything 10 miles or more.
