Rubbermaid To Close Pottsville Facility; 100 To Lose Their Jobs

POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Rubbermaid Commercial Products is closing its Pottsville facility next year and about 100 people will lose their jobs.

Atlanta-based Newell Rubbermaid announced Wednesday it plans to close the plant by September 2015.

The factory makes metal trash cans. The company is consolidating operations with another plant in northern Virginia.

Newell Rubbermaid is the parent company for brands including Rubbermaid containers, Sharpie markers, Graco children's products and Paper Mate pens.

The company acquired the Pottsville facility in 2007.
