Roger Stone: Donald Trump Adding Staff For Convention Fight
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Political operative and supporter of Donald Trump, Roger Stone, stated that the Trump campaign is preparing for a fight at the Republican National Convention for delegate votes to be the party's presidential nominee in November.
Stone, speaking with Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said that Trump is adding political veterans to his staff that have experience fighting for primary victories.
"You see some more senior and seasoned state political operatives moving into the Trump operation. People I have a very high regard for, like Jim Schultz who worked for your former Governor or David Urban, who worked for many years for Senator Arlen Specter. These guys are pros. They know how to win primaries. They know the lay of the land. They know the players. I think you have a new sophistication on the part of the Trump operation."
He dismissed fears that convention rule changes will be able to keep Trump from securing the nomination.
"The rules will be set by the temporary rules committee in Cleveland and voted on by the entire convention. In many ways, the recommendation of the permanent standing rules committee are meaningless. They are merely a recommendation. If there are wholesale rules that are going to be fought over, they'll be fought over in Cleveland."
