Robbery Suspect Shot And Killed By Store Owner In Mayfair

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police in Philadelphia say a robbery suspect was shot and killed by a store owner on Monday.

Around 5 p.m., the suspect, who was armed with a knife, reportedly attempted to rob Stan's Health Food Store at 7100 Frankford Avenue.

The female owner, reportedly a former police officer and Secret Service agent, then fired a handgun and shot the 47-year-old suspect once in the left side above the buttocks.

Police say the suspect was taken to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital in extremely critical condition where he later died.

The store owner was not injured and is not expected to face charges.
