Riding Into The Holiday Weekend At The Devon Horse Show

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 120th Devon Horse Show and County Fair gets underway Thursday.

The Devon Horse Show is the largest outdoor horse show in the county, with hundreds of horses and riders from all over the country participating in a range of classes.

There is also a country fair element to the festivities where Karin Maynard oversees things.

She says one of the hot sellers is the lemon sticks.

"The funny thing about the lemon sticks is, years ago the company that made the lemon sticks went out of business, so we had to find a company outside of Baltimore that actually makes them for us," Maynard said. "And they are perforated throughout so when you suck the Lemon juice it goes through the candy."

Proceeds of the Devon Horse Show and country fair benefit Bryn Mawr Hospital.

"Last year we made a $2-million pledge over five years," Maynard said. "We will be contributing to their campaign to build another building at Bryn Mawr and our contribution goes to the ICU. So, you know, we have a goal."

The 120th Devon Horse Show and Country Fair runs through June 5.
