Review: Zinburger

Score: 7.55
Price: The Samburger was fairly priced at $11.
Location: Towne Plaza at Garden State Park in Cherry Hill.

The gimmick at this upscale South Jersey mall restaurant is that they pair your burger with a specific wine. Okay, we're usually good with a craft beer or frothy milkshake, but if the waitress suggests a Shiraz with my bacon burger, I'll give it a try. Turns out, both the wine and the burger were excellent – although I'll likely stick with old habits in the future.

The Samburger, named for executive chef Sam Marini, comes with applewood smoked bacon, American cheese and Thousand Island dressing. We were dubious on two counts: 1) American cheese, let's face it, is inferior to cheddar, gouda and most everyone else you can melt over a beef patty, and 2) Most places in this contest that have resorted to Thousand Island dressing use it mostly to mask the taste of inferior meat.

But not here. It's all Angus beef, which is tender and succulent. Or you can spend an extra $5 (which we did on our second burger) and get it made from delicious Kobe beef. Both burgers were tasty and well-prepared – springy to the touch, charred on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Definitely worth your while, especially if you're an oenophile.
