Revel Casino To Close 8 Days Earlier Than Planned
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., (CBS/AP) -- Revel Casino Hotel, the $2.4 billion resort that opened just over two years ago as a hoped-for savior for Atlantic City's sinking revenues, is closing a week earlier than planned.
In a statement released Friday, the casino said it will close its hotel doors at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1 and its casino at 5 a.m. on Sept. 2. Earlier Revel had said it would close on Sept. 10.
Parent company Revel AC thanked its employees for their "professionalism, dedication and hard work" in the statement.
About 3,100 people will lose their jobs because of the closing.
All concerts and events scheduled for Sept. 2 or later will be cancelled.
