Highly-Anticipated Restaurant Opens Soon At NJ's Cooper River Park

PENNSAUKEN , N.J. (CBS) - The newly renovated restaurant in Pennsauken's Cooper River Park is set to open next month.

Kevin Meeker, operating partner of Cooper House restaurant, says his newest establishment will be located in the park, which has been a county project that's been developed now for approximately the last five years:

"They always talk about restaurants -- location, location, location -- this is in a beautiful setting right on the water, on the Cooper River and it is just absolutely gorgeous. We actually tried to bring a little bit of nature into the restaurant."

The restaurant, previously known as The Lobster Trap, closed in 2013 and is now being renovated.

It's a county-owned building, Meeker says, originally built in 1937:

"Like any project/building that you're taking from an old run down -- actually, it was condemned -- and then turning it into a viable restaurant, you have a lot of work to be done with the structure. So that was really the main setback in taking so long."

The opening is set for June 5th.
