Researchers Find Teens Who Smoke Marijuana Every Day Less Likely To Finish High School

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (CBS) – There is alarming new information about teenagers and marijuana use.

Australian researchers found teens who smoke marijuana daily are more than 60 percent less likely to finish high school.

The users are also seven times more likely to attempt suicide and eight times more likely to use other illegal drugs. They may also be more affected by depression and have welfare dependency.

The research revealed prevention or delay of marijuana use in adolescence is likely to have health and social benefits.

The study followed 3,700 teenagers until they were 30-years-old.
