Police: Body Of Fisherman Pulled From Wissahickon Creek

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a man has died after reportedly falling into the Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia's East Falls neighborhood.

The incident was reported at about 8:47 p.m. Tuesday near the 5000 block of Ridge Avenue.

According to investigators, a 63-year-old man was fishing with a friend near the Wissahickon Transfer Center when he reportedly fell into the water.

Investigators say he was pulled from the water and he was pronounced dead at about 9:42 p.m.

Investigators say the water in that area is reportedly about 25 feet deep.

SEPTA Bus Routes 9, 27, 38, 61, 124, 125, and R were on detour around the Wissahickon Transfer Center due to police activity, but SEPTA says all lines resumed normal routings by 11 p.m.
