Jeep Goes Airborne, Lands On Top Of Several Vehicles At Car Dealership In Ardmore

ARDMORE, Pa. (CBS) -- One person was injured during a bizarre crash in Ardmore on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at 150 West Lancaster Avenue at the Piazza Acura/Volkswagen of Ardmore dealership around 9 a.m.

The driver, who was behind the wheel of a white Jeep, apparently lost control of her vehicle and went up a snow embankment before her car went airborne, ending up on top of several other vehicles at the dealership.

Service Manager of Piazza Acura, Mike Stangler says, "My assistant looked over and said 'I think there is something going on over there.' So I looked out of the window and saw a car on top of a car."

It all happened as the car was pulling out from a car wash behind the dealership.

Chief Tom Hayden of the Ardmore Fire Department says, "Shortly after 9 a.m., a female driver of this car launched herself off the snow embankment and ended up on top of three vehicles. She was trapped inside."

Within 45 minutes, fire crews had stabilized the vehicle, took the passenger door off and safely removed the driver.

Handicapped plates were found on the white Jeep and a walker was in the car.

The driver's condition is unknown at this time, but authorities say she was coherent when she got out of the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
