Report: Ruben Amaro Jr. Wants To Be A Manager

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- He was a part of quite a few, but Ruben Amaro Jr.'s departure from Philadelphia was anything but ceremonious. New Phillies President Andy MacPhail and owner John Middleton sat before a room of reporters and announced that Amaro had worked his last day with the team.

That announcement came back in September and to this point, we have wondered what would become of Amaro's career in baseball.

To this point, Amaro has decided what young players were ready to put on an MLB uniform and now he might be hoping his career will soon involve him putting on a jersey himself. A Boston Globe article reports that Amaro is looking to manage.

According to the report, Amaro has enlisted the services of agent Bob Lamonte, who has worked with several NFL coaches and executives including Jon Gruden, Andy Reid and John Fox.

While he has done other reclamation projects, selling Amaro to teams as a manager as opposed to a general manager could prove to be a tough task.
