Report: Phillies Have 'Cooled' On Yasmany Tomas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- According to Paul Hagen of the MLB Hot Stove blog, the Phillies "have cooled on the idea of signing" 23-year-old outfielder Yasmany Tomas.

The report continues to say while the Phillies like Tomas offensively, the club has defensive concerns with the Cuban defector.

Acting Phillies CEO Pat Gillick said the Phillies have placed a "for sale" on everyone, this offseason, as they hope to rebuild.

Two conflicting reports have surfaced, saying the Phillies remain very interested in Tomas.

First, ESPN baseball writer Jayson Stark's tweet:

 

Secondly, Ben Badler of baseballamerica.com writes, "Given the fit and the track record, along with plenty of industry talk, there are a lot of arrows pointing toward Philadelphia as the leading candidate to sign Tomas."
