Report: NBA Lottery Reform Voted Against
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- In a dramatic twist of events, the Sixers rejoice.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the NBA lottery reform has been voted down and was shockingly not approved on Wednesday. The vote, according to Zach Lowe of Grantland.com, was expected to be 28-2 or even 29-1, in favor of the draft lottery reform.
The vote was 17-13 in favor of the draft lottery changes, but the league needed 23 "yes" votes to make the change. The Sixers were considered one of the teams vocally against the lottery, as they continue their strategy of a long-term rebuild.
According to Wojnarowski, the 13 teams that voted against the lottery change are the Sixers, Suns, Thunder, Pelicans, Pistons, Heat, Bucks, Spurs, Jazz, Wizards, Hawks, Bobcats, and Bulls.
"Several teams started to wonder about unintended consequences and voted no to be able to do further study," one owner told Yahoo, according to Woj.
One upset owner said, "Well, we still have the 'Be as (expletive) as humanly possible' strategy available in future if we need it."
Sam Hinkie and the Sixers, can breathe easy, for now.
