Report: Malik Rose Will Not Accept Assistant Coach Position At Alabama

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Malik Rose will, apparently, be staying in Philadelphia.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported early Thursday, that Rose was offered a role from his former San Antonio Spurs teammate Avery Johnson, as special assistant to the head coach of the University of Alabama.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman is now reporting Rose will not accept the offer.

After retiring from NBA in 2009, Rose has found his niche working as the Sixers' TV analyst alongside long-time play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff. Rose, a former Overbrook high school and Drexel University stand out, has become a fan favorite in Philadelphia.

Johnson was named head coach of Alabama in March. Johnson and Rose won a championship together in 1999 with the Spurs.
