Flyers Promote Hextall To GM, Holmgren To Team President

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Flyers held a press conference today to announce some changes to their front office.

The team announced that Ron Hextall will be promoted to general manager, and Paul Holmgren would be promoted to team president.

Last Friday, when asked if assistant general manager Ron Hextall will replace Paul Holmgren as general manager, Flyers chairman Ed Snider said,"That's why he was brought in. He didn't come in to stay assistant GM forever, but that doesn't mean tomorrow. But I've got to sit down with Paul."

The Flyers brought back Hextall last July, who was formerly the assistant general manager with the Los Angeles Kings, to assist Holmgren.

The Flyers lost in seven games to the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2014 playoffs.
