Report: Eagles Will Sign Mark Sanchez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Eagles and the Jets have essentially traded quarterbacks.

The Eagles will sign former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, according to a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

"‎Former Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez has agreed to terms with the Eagles on a new deal and will officially sign with them today, according to a source," La Canfora writes.  "Sanchez was pursued by several teams since being released by the Jets ahead of a large bonus payment that was due."

Sanchez was a former first round pick of the Jets, and quarterbacked the team to two AFC Championship games.

He fell out of favor due to poor play, and missed all of the 2013 season due to shoulder surgery.

Sanchez will presumably compete for the Eagles backup QB job with fellow USC Trojan Matt Barkley.
