Report: Dion Jordan Suspended For 2015 Season, Eagles Were Nearing Deal

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Eagles fans should be very thankful their football team did not acquire Dolphins DE Dion Jordan.

Jordan, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, will be suspended for the entire 2015 season for another substance abuse policy violation. Furthermore, Schefter reports the Eagles and Dolphins were nearing a trade that would have sent Jordan to Philadelphia if not for the suspension. The former No. 3 overall pick played for Eagles coach Chip Kelly at Oregon.

According to Jeff McLane, the Eagles would have sent a conditional late-round pick for Jordan, while Eagles guard Evan Mathis was also involved in the discussion.

Jordan was suspended last September for four games for violating the policy. In July, Jordan tested positive for banned stimulants.

Jordan will not appeal the suspension.
