Report: Dario Saric Wanted To Join The Sixers Now

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Apparently, Dario Saric wanted to come to Philly this summer.

According to international basketball reporter David Pick of basketballinsiders.com, a source says, "Saric told people he wanted to join Philadelphia now, but couldn't because his contract had no out-clause."

Saric, a 6'10", 220-pound forward, was the 12th overall pick of the Sixers in 2014, but signed a two-plus-one year deal to play for the Anadolu Efes of the Turkish league until the 2016-17 season.

"It's really hard for me to answer that," Saric told Pick, on his situation. "I can't comment. I think I'm ready to compete in the NBA, against the best players, but we built a great team in Efes and I want to help the club win a championship."

This is encouraging news for Sixers fans after speculation ensued that Saric could decline his 2016-17 player option and stay overseas for a third season.
