Ray Didinger: Carson Wentz Will Provide Some 'Wow' Moments Vs. Bucs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles will open the preseason tonight as they welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to town.

Most of the excitement in this one surrounds rookie quarterback Carson Wentz who is expected to play the bulk of the second half for the Eagles. Wentz, of course, was the #2 overall pick in the 2016 draft out of North Dakota State.

"People will be mildly interested in the first half, but they're be going to come really interested when he comes on the field in the second half," Didinger said. "I think people have to keep their expectations in check. It is, number one, a preseason game. Number two, it's his first exposure to it. But I don't think there's any way that there aren't going to be some moments in there that are going to be 'wow' moments."

Several players will sit out this game with injuries for the Eagles. That list includes tackle Jason Peters, safety Malcolm Jenkins, wide receiver Jordan Matthews and linebacker Mychal Kendricks.

This will also be the first chance for fans to get a feel for Doug Pederson as a game day head coach.
