Rain Clearing Out, More Settled Weekend Ahead

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Flood warnings remain in effect for parts of the area this evening but the heavy rain has now come to an end. Total rain amounts were generally 1-2", as expected with this latest storm, but some locations North and West of the city received higher amounts. Daily rainfall records were set today in Allentown and Mt. Pocono.
Meanwhile, the rainfall total in Philadelphia has climbed to 21.42" since the beginning of the year which is now over 6.5" above average.
Numerous creeks and streams are running high as a result of this latest deluge and minor flooding is occurring along low lying roads and in poor drainage areas. As a reminder, do not walk or drive through flooded roadways. The waters will recede tonight and skies will gradually clear.
The weekend looks more settled with some sunshine and seasonable temperatures that will top off in the low 70s. A weak disturbance may trigger a brief shower Sunday afternoon but even drier and nicer weather is expected for early next week.
