Person Fatally Struck By Train In Delaware County

SHARON HILL, Pa. (CBS) – Rail service was briefly shut down Wednesday after authorities say a pedestrian attempting to cross the tracks was struck by a train near Sharon Hill, Pa.

Around 4:45 p.m., the victim was fatally struck by the 2163 Acela Express train operating from Boston to Washington near the Sharon Hill station.

While there were no injuries to passengers on the train, train service -- including Regional Rail service on the Wilmington/Newark line -- was shut down until about 5:30 p.m.

An investigation is underway.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
