Radnor Township School District Teachers Will Resume Writing College Recommendation Letters

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, Pa., (CBS) -- Teachers in the Radnor Township School District will once again start writing college recommendation letters. They had stopped writing the letters for students, as a way to bring attention to their fight for a new contract.
The move comes the same day students at Radnor Township High School released a letter asking teachers to reconsider the policy. Those students saying they don't want to take sides, but they feel they're caught in the middle.

The teachers' contract expired on August 31st. The union sent a letter to parents on Labor Day saying no college recommendation letters would be written until October 1st. In a new statement, the teachers' union says they reached out to colleges and universities and were assured no applications would be negatively affected by the move, but they say they will start writing the letters immediately.
Talks are ongoing, with the next session scheduled for Monday.
