PSPCA Removes 27 Cats, 2 Dogs From 'Flea-Infested' Bridesburg Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania SPCA announced the removal of 29 living animals from a home in the city's Bridesburg section on Friday.

The PSPCA executed a search warrant at a home after receiving a tip regarding dead cats in a trash can on the 2400 block of Bridge Street. The PSPCA discovered 27 living cats and two dogs inside a home on the block.

Officials say the property was filthy and flea-infested. They add that several of the cats, and one of the dogs, suffered from severe medical conditions and were taken to PSPCA headquarters for treatment.

All of the other animals were also taken to the PSPCA and will remain in the group's care until they are healthy enough to be adopted.

The investigation into the matter continues and no charges have been filed.
