Prosecutors: South Jersey Man Sexually Assaulted Boy Scout In 1990s

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a southern New Jersey man sexually assaulted a teenage boy more than 20 years ago, while both were involved a church's boy scout troop.

Cape May County prosecutors say 57-year-old Vincent Watkins, of Middle Township, was arrested Friday.

The alleged assault occurred in July 1991. At the time, the boy was between the ages of 13 and 16.

Authorities say the boy was a member of Bethel Commandment Church's boy scout troop. Watkins also was a member of the church in Whitesboro and was involved with the troop.

Bail was set at $100,000 for Watkins. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

A telephone number for Watkins could not be located. It wasn't known Saturday if he has retained an attorney.
