Prosecutors: Man Drove To New Jersey To Meet 'Teen' For Sex

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a New York state man drove to southern New Jersey to have sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

But Camden County prosecutors say the person Stephen Epolito was chatting with online was actually an undercover investigator.

The 37-year-old Syracuse man was charged with attempting to lure a child via electronic means to a meeting with the purpose of committing a criminal offense. Prosecutors say he was arrested Thursday when he arrived in Gloucester City.

Epolito's bail was set at $100,000 cash.

It wasn't known Saturday if Epolito has retained an attorney. A telephone number for him could not be located.
