Princeton, NJ Businessman Funds 50 Full Scholarships at Rowan Univ.

GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- Fifty New Jersey high school students will be getting a free ride to Rowan University, thanks to a Princeton, NJ businessman.
The $1 million gift from the foundation of Heartland Payment Systems' founder Robert Carr will cover the tuition, room, and board for 50 students at Rowan University, in Glassboro.
Carr says only hardworking New Jersey high school freshmen need apply.
"We want kids who maybe won't even try to go to college, that have the ability but they're discouraged because of their family circumstances," he said today.
Students will have to meet income criteria, and they'll have to maintain good grades in advanced high school courses.
The "Give Something Back Foundation" will identify the school districts that are eligible this fall, with the students announced in February or March.
The first group of selected for the scholarships will begin at Rowan in the fall of 2019.
