President Obama Visits Philadelphia To Campaign For Tom Wolf

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- President Obama comes to town this afternoon to campaign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Wolf with just two days until election day. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the rally in North Philadelphia.

The president is set to lead a "Get Out the Vote" rally for Wolf at Temple University's Liacouras Center on Broad Street.

Despite Obama's poor poll numbers and a growing number of Democrats running for office across the country distancing themselves from the president, St. Joseph's University history and politics professor Randall Miller says the chemistry is different because Obama is here.

"To appeal to African-American, Latino, LGBT, young people, women - all people who have supported Obama for various reasons and whatever misgivings they might have had about his policies, nevertheless, that's a constituency Obama still has and in some cases a constituency that wants to do things for Obama."

Miller says Wolf has managed to keep the issues local and isn't likely to suffer any damage by what he believes will be last-minute Republican attempt to link Wolf with President Obama.

Meantime, incumbent Tom Corbett has enlisted the help of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Christie is campaigning with Corbett today in the Philadelphia suburbs.
