Preparations Underway For Walk4Hearing Event In Philadelphia This Weekend

BRYN MAWR, Pa., (CBS) -- Students and parents at the Clarke School for Hearing and Speech in Bryn Mawr were busy with a very special assignment this morning: preparing for the "Walk 4 Hearing" which will step off October 5th at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia.

The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) describes the Walk4Hearing as the "largest walk of its kind taking place in multiple cities across the country."

The Walk, according to the HLAA, helps "increase public awareness about hearing loss, eradicate the stigma associated with it and raise funds for programs and services."

Philadelphia's Walk4Hearing begins with registration at 9 a.m and the Walk at 10 a.m. at the Navy Yard, 4747 South Broad Street, Sunday, October 5th.

To contribute as an individual or team, you can visit the Walk4Hearing website.

The children at the Clarke School, along with their families and teachers, say they will be there, and they hope this year's Walk4Hearing will be a huge success.
