PPL Park, Home Stadium for Philadelphia Union, Getting a Name Change

By Jim Melwert

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Come this fall, the Philadelphia Union won't be playing soccer in PPL Park anymore.

It'll be the same park but a different name, as the branding of the park's namesake will change to Talen Energy.

"On June first, PPL spun off its energy generation business," explains Talen Energy spokesman Todd Martin.  "And that, combined with Riverstone Holding, became Talen Energy."

Martin says the plants, the people, and the staff will all remain the same.

"At this point, some of the signs have begun to change, but the rebranding of the park itself will not happen until after the season is concluded," he tells KYW Newsradio.

There was no word yet on what the stadium will be called after the changeover.
