PPD: Increased Presence, But No Direct Threat To Philly After Orlando Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police say as a result of the recent mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub, the department has increased their awareness and presence throughout the city.
Officers have been instructed to be vigilant and to patrol any area that could be of concern.
The department says they haven't received any information about a direct threat to the city, but they will still do what they can to ensure the safety of everyone in Philadelphia.
Police ask citizens to be vigilant as well, and urge anyone who sees anything suspicious to call 9-1-1.
The PPD also offered their thoughts and prayers to the victims and families impacted by the shooting.
Fifty people were killed and over 50 more hospitalized.
