Positively Philadelphia: LightPlay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you've been on the Avenue of the Arts South recently, you might have seen a spectacular new addition to Philadelphia's world class public art collection.

"It's called 'LightPlay'," says Lajos Héder, one of the artists. "There are some materials like glass and steel, but the real material really is the light."

The other artist is Mags Harries.

"As the sun comes around," she explains, "it shines not only on the sidewalk but down into the subway entrance, so the idea of coming up out of the subway into this glorious colored light -- it'll be spectacular."

"LightPlay" is at Broad and South Streets in front of the Dranoff property Southstar Lofts, and it was Dranoff who commissioned the art:

"It changes with the season, with the time of day."

The two artists were picked out of hundreds who submitted plans for the project, and although they're from Boston, Philadelphia is now very close to their hearts.

"Philadelphia is ours now," says Harries. "We're Philadelphians."
