Positively Philadelphia: Art Museum Opening On MLK Day

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Museum of Art, usually closed on Mondays, will be open on Monday, January 19th for Martin Luther King Day, and it's part of a whole weekend of events.

"We're open, of course, on that Saturday and Sunday" says Timothy Rub, museum director and chief executive officer, "but we're also going to be open to the public on Monday as a free day, and a day of service.

Rub says visitors will be able to see the newly opened exhibit Represent: 200 years of African-American art.

"This show has been many, many years in the making, and it's generated a great, great deal of excitement," he says. "Opening on Monday for Martin Luther King Day and offering free admission is a wonderful opportunity to share this exhibition and the collection with the community"
