Popular Philadelphia Kosher Bakery Closes Its Doors After More Than 50 Years

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A popular Kosher bakery in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia has closed abruptly.

Hesh's Bakery, a landmark on Castor Avenue for more than 50 years, posted a message on its website notifying customers it has closed.

"It is with a very sad and heavy heart to tell you that Hesh's Bakery is now closed and will not be reopening. We thank you for your patronage. We will miss you."

The bakery was known for serving Kosher treats such as chocolate chip pound cake to the local Jewish community.

The owners have not revealed why they closed up shop.
