Pop-Up Gardens

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Pop-up gardens are more than just pretty, restful, calming improvements to the neighborhood, a way to get to know people and a shady place to spend a sunny hot day…they're also full of fun things to do.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is hosting all kinds of events at their summer pop-up gardens; everything from afternoon yoga to evening concerts at the South Street garden at 15th & South Streets; to chances to learn a lot about gardening at the East Passyunk garden at 9th & Wharton Streets.

At East Passyunk, on August 10th, you can learn how to capture the rain so it can water your plants for you. On August 17th, find out how to make pretty arrangements from fresh cut flowers and foliage. On August 24th, take a crash course in tree care basics with their Tree Tenders class. And on August 31st get tips about what kinds of foods you can plant in containers to harvest this fall.

Click here for details on what's happening at the PHS pop-up gardens so you can plan to pop in on events you don't want to miss.
